Venue
Organizer: Deutsch-Russisches Museum Berlin-Karlshorst
Catalogue available.
The permanent exhibition of the Deutsch-Russisches Museum, at the historical location of the capitulation of May 8, 1945, thematizes the relations between Germany and the Soviet Union from 1917 to 1990. In the centre is the presentation of the German-Soviet war from 1941 to 1945. With many items, photographs, and documents, a dense picture of the war reality is shown, which does also take into account, besides the war planning, the course of the war, and the end of the war resulting in the act of capitulation in Karlshorst, aspects like the daily life of the soldiers, the NS extermination policy on Soviet civilians and soldiers, occupation, collaboration, and war captivity.
