In this hall, evolutionary mechanisms are shown, which are responsible for the look, behaviour and diversity of animals and plants. We explain what living fossils are and why zebras have stripes.

Biodiversity Wall
Be enchanted by the colours and shapes of Nature! In this installation, 3,000 mounted species are on display - and yet it is a mere shadow of the variety of Nature. It is estimated that there are up to 40 million different currently living species, of which only a small fraction is known. New species are constantly discovered and documented - many of them by scientists of the museum. The specimens then become part of our collection of type samples and are available to researchers all over the world.
