Museum für Fotografie / Helmut-Newton-Stiftung

Since June 2004, the Museum of Photography (part of the Kunstbibliothek/Art Library) is housed under the same roof as the Helmut Newton Foundation at Jebensstraße 2, opposite the ‘Zoologischer Garten’ train station.
The aim is to bring together the many different aspects of photography found in the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (National Museums in Berlin) to form one single exhibition, research and documentation centre. As of summer 2004, the premises are being rebuilt in several stages. In addition to the exhibition galleries and archives, there will be a study and reading room with a reference library, restoration workshop and an education section with a photographic laboratory for demonstration purposes.
On 26 May 2010, the National Museums´ Art Library celebrated the reopening of the glistening, modernised Kaisersaal in the Museum of Photography.
