The association Wilhelm-Foerster-Sternwarte e.V. was founded in 1947 to impart astronomic knowledge to a broad public. Today, it runs the both the planetarium at the foot of the rubble mountain Insulaner as well as the observatory on the Insulaner.
At the big dome of the planetarium, you experience a gorgeous, artificial starry sky, no matter whether there is rain, storm, or snow outside. Astronomic lectures, radio plays, readings, laser shows, multimedia, live music, special programmes for children, school classes or kindergarten groups - we offer w wide range for all ages and tastes. Lean back and be fascinated by the stars…
On the observatory, you can discover the sky with your own eyes, if the sky is clear: We show you the planets with their moons, the craters and mountains of our moon, the sun and its sunspots, and a big number of stars, fogs, and galaxies through our telescopes.
You want astronomy to be your hobby? We do also offer a wide range of courses and working groups.
