The Berliner Waldmuseum (Berlin Forest Museum) run by "Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald" is near the station S-Bahnhof Grunewald. With the help of big diorama of domestic animals and objects such as animal sculls and coats, bird nests, tree discs and cones, the forest´s eco system gets explained. The visitors can guess bird calls and smell the forest, feel finds, and observe, under microscope, the tiny magic world of the forest.
For school classes and other groups, the Waldmuseum offers projects which last 2 to 4 hours; these projects combine the visit at the museum with excursions and adventure games at the Grunewald. Supplied with binoculars, magnifying glasses, stethoscope und determination books, the town children learn about the habitat forest and get sensitized for the protection of nature.
The Waldmuseum offers regularly night excursions and forest days for families; furthermore, it organizes holiday programmes and birthday parties.
