The Botanische Museum Berlin-Dahlem (Botanical Museum Berlin-Dahlem) is the only of its kind in Central Europe. It understands itself as a completion to the Botanical Garden, and therefore, it makes sense to visit both the garden and the museum.
At the permanent exhibition, the visitors can deepen their knowledge on the fascinating plant world. At highly increased models, one can see the structure and the fine structures of the plants. Furthermore, one can permanently see at the museum many things which bloom, outside, only on a few days or weeks of a year.
The tour through two floors starts with "Submerged Plant Worlds“ of the palaeobotanic department, it leads to systematic, vegetations, and morphology of the lower and higher plants. At the upper floor, one can learn about the "benefits of plants“ and about the origin of the crops of our daily breakfast. "Psychoactive plants“ introduces a less seen aspect of the relations between humans and plants. A unique collection of ancient Egyptian plant remnants show the blooms preferred by the Pharaohs. One can also see the original herbal copies of the famous botanist Alexander von Humboldt.
Changing special exhibitions are mainly dedicated to the culture history and the botany of individual plants.
