Founded in 1997 in Berlin, the Computerspielemuseum was the world's first permanent exhibition of digital interactive entertainment culture. Since then, the museum has documented the development of the medium with over 30 national and international exhibitions. "pong.mythos," for instance, was Germany's most successful touring exhibition on the history of computer games.
The new permanent exhibition, “Computerspiele. Evolution eines Mediums” ("Computer Games. Evolution of a Medium"), opened in January 2011 in a new location on the Soviet 60ies style Karl-Marx-Allee, aims to convey the cultural history of computer and video games in an interactive environment. It invites the visitors to explore the world of  "Homo Ludens Digitalis”, and to (re-)discover numerous playable classic games and other rare original exhibits.
