Museumsportal Berlin

The Kunstforum der Berliner Volksbank shows, since 1985, three to four exhibitions of museum standard per year in its big round exhibition hall of around 600 square meters. In cooperation with national and international museums and art institutions, up to now, more than 90 exhibitions have been presented, e. g. "Prager Jugendstil" (1992) or "Egypt 2000 before Christ: The Birth of the Individuum“ (2000), as well as numerous arrt exhibitions dealing with the change of the city of Berlin, such as "200 years Brandenburg gate" (1991), "Unter den Linden – Berlin´s Avenue in Views by Schinkel, Gaertner, and Menzel“ (1997), the retrospective of the photographer Eva Kemlein (2005), the private photo collection of the famous veduta painter Eduard Gaertner (2006), or "StadtBlicke“ with historical photographs and current pictures of Berlin (2001).

About every five years, the bank´s art collection gets presented at the Kunstforum, one of the most important company-owned collections of figurative works of East and West German artists. Thus, "Ostwind – Fünf Maler aus der Sammlung der GrundkreditBank. Altenbourg. Heisig. Mattheuer. Metzkes. Tübke" was designed as a complementary exhibition for "Deutschlandbilder" in 1996. In 1999/2000, the exhibition "DIALOGE“, and, in 2005 "Bilder & Bilanzen. Von Antes bis Zylla" were shown.
