We invite you to the opening of a youth democracy project at the Museum Knoblauchhaus on the March Revolution of 1848/49.
In the project "On the barricades!", pupils from two eighth-grade classes at Thomas-Mann-Gymnasium (Märkisches Viertel) acted as junior curators to research the events of the March Revolution of 1848/49 in Berlin. Why did people take to the streets back then? And what does this have to do with us today?
The curator of the Museum Knoblauchhaus opened the museum archive to the students for their research work. There they studied the historical collection of sources from the estate of the Knoblauch family, who once lived in the house.
The young people presented the results of their project with a revolutionary newspaper, a map of the city and audio stations in a special area in the Museum Knoblauchhaus. In the project presentation curated by them, they also make their own statements visible to all visitors.
Implementation: Imke Küster (art historian) and Stefanie von Schroeter (artist)
Duration: The presentation can be seen from Tuesday, July 22 to Sunday, August 31, 2025 in a special area in the museum
Knoblauchhaus.
Meeting point: Special area (1st floor)
