In the supporting program to the exhibition "DMZ - The Last Frontier of the Cold War" presents the 1956 Oscar-winning film for best special effects. It was released in cinemas two years after the armistice in the Korean War 1950-1953 came into force. William Holden plays Lieutenant Harry Brubaker, a U.S. Navy reservist and pilot who flies raids from an aircraft carrier during the Korean War. Brubaker must leave his wife, Nancy (Grace Kelly), after a brief rest in Tokyo, Japan. His mission is to destroy the bridges at Toko-Ri, which are very well secured by the enemy. Depicting the role of officers as well as sailors on an aircraft carrier, this multi-layered film does not omit themes such as post-traumatic stress disorder, distinguishing it from the U.S.-produced war films common in the 1950s.
