In summer 2024, the International Singing Studio Berlin was a guest at the Kurt Mühlenhaupt Museum for the first time. The singers celebrated a great success with their operetta program and had to promise to return with an opera program. On July 6, 2025, they kept their promise.
The International Singing Studio Berlin e.V. offers opera singers training or further training specifically in Italian singing technique. This technique promotes secure and, above all, healthy singing paired with power and beauty. Opera singer Maestro Cesare Colona teaches this technique, with which a feast of beautiful voices can be achieved. Sopranos Nicole Rhoslynn, Silvia Di Vincenzo and Selena Pettifer and baritone Sebastian Eger now invite you to join them.
Program
The evening begins with grand opera. It opens with the most famous aria from Mozart's "Don Giovanni". Leporello tells Donna Elvira about the list of beauties his employer has already loved. There are thousands of them and it is enjoyable to listen to. The "Song to the Moon" from Antonin Dvoràk's opera "Rusalka" can be heard and in Richard Wagner's "Tannhäuser", the title hero sings to the fair evening star. Giacomo Puccini's "Turandot" transports the audience to Beijing, to the palace of an emperor in legendary times. Princess Turandot forces her suitors to solve three riddles. If they fail, they will be beheaded. The arias of the princess and her slave Liu are correspondingly dramatic. There are also arias from La Bohème (also by Puccini) and operas by Giuseppe Verdi and Camille Saint-Saëns. After an intermission, the program continues with well-known melodies from operettas by Franz Lehár, Emmerich Kálmán, Robert Stolz and, of course, Johann Strauss. The operetta roundelay is refined with a Canzone Napoletana and a tango song.
