Turn on the tap, out runs the water. That goes without saying! But why, actually? What’s happening in the background to make it possible? We’re going to spend two days getting to the bottom of the matter – at Berlin’s largest waterworks in Tegel. This event is aimed at school classes and school groups in particular.

The water professionals will tell you what it takes to ensure clean, tasty water any time you need it and what difficulties need to be overcome in the process. Of course, we’ll also be asking lots of questions about the future: why are there ever more discussions in politics and the media about water? How can we adapt to climate change? And what else do we as Berliners need to know in order to prepare ourselves for the future?

Programme

You can combine our programme points into an eventful tour. At the end, there’ll also be a prize to win.

-> Guided tour of the waterworks

-> Activities and stands: short talks at the “Wassermobil”, a mobile information stand for questions about water; tasting of raw water, tap water and bottled water; analysing and filtering water; mini-workshops on shaping the future

-> Picnic meadow

“Futurium has left the building” is the motto for this summer: as part of our event series in June and July 2025, you can find Futurium at four special locations in Berlin. Here you can look into the various facets of our new thematic focus “Future Fields. Farming and Using the Land” from an urban perspective. The events will be organised with committed locals and present concrete approaches to shaping the future of our city. Each event will be dedicated to a new topic. Exchange everyday expertise, gain insights into research findings, try out new techniques and engage in unusual conversations!
