Christoph Kreutzmüller: Photographs of the Nazi Deportations
There is a surprisingly thin photographic tradition on many crime complexes of the Nazi regime. For this reason, the same photos are often shown over and over again. This also applies to crimes that happened in plain sight, such as the deportations of hundreds of thousands of Jews, Rom:nja and Sinti:zze from the German Reich between 1938 and 1945. In the #LastSeen project, the surviving photographs are collected and indexed in a digital image atlas. Christoph Kreutzmüller will present the results of the research and an interactive game that allows users to explore the historical events on their own using the photos.
Christoph Kreutzmüller is deputy project manager of #LastSeen at the Selma Stern Center for Jewish Studies Berlin Brandenburg.
