Welcome: Sebastian Schlingheider
Lecture: Helmut Vogel
Moderation: Dr. Sylvia Wolff

In 1931 a local group for deaf and hard of hearing people was founded in the NSDAP in Berlin. Only a few months later there was already a deaf troop in the SA. The Reich Association of the Deaf of Germany also decided to join the National Socialist system. Many deaf people hoped to be accepted into the Nazi national community. But the hope was disappointed. The National Socialists labeled deaf people as inferior. About 15,000 deaf people were made infertile. Jewish deaf people were murdered.

The lecture will be given in sign language and translated into spoken language by interpreters
