9 October 2024 marks the fifth anniversary of the Halle synagogue shooting. The racist attack in Hanau was also nearly five years ago. The two acts of violence took place within a matter of months and, for many people, represent a decisive turning point to this very day. Although a judicial and political process took place in both cases, without the tireless efforts of civic initiatives, co-plaintiffs and journalists, many questions would have remained unanswered. Five years on, what conclusions can we draw from the political and judicial process?

Panel discussion with:

Seda Başay-Yıldız, lawyer for the families of Sedat Gürbüz, Fatih Saraçoğlu and Gökhan Gültekin

Valentin Hacken, journalist and podcaster (Halle nach dem Anschlag)

Annette Rammelsberger (moderator), court reporter for the Süddeutsche Zeitung
