Guided tour through the permanent exhibition of the Deutsche Kinemathek

Why do images move in cinema and television? When did images learn to speak, and what trick techniques were used in film in the past? Young visitors will find answers to these and many other questions about animation and film technology during a guided tour of the permanent exhibition.

This guided tour, specially designed for children, starts with the German film pioneers, walks through the early years of German cinema and explains the beginnings of sound film. Using films such as the silent classic Metropolis, the technique of single-frame animation is illustrated by hand.
