Climate change has greatly altered Babelsberg Park over the last seven years. The trees in particular have become victims of their environmental conditions. However, trees form the spatial composition of a garden work of art and are staged in Babelsberg Park in particular as a framework for views of Potsdam's cultural landscape.

What challenges does the garden team face and what is being done to restore the historical appearance of the garden monument, Park Babelsberg, under these difficult conditions and preserve it for the next generation? Water is only available on 15 percent of the park area. The guided tour presents the attempts that have been made to successfully establish replacement trees, how the water-bound paths can withstand long periods of heat and heavy rainfall and the complex issue of humus accumulation in the sandy soil. In formerly forest-like structures that have completely collapsed, the garden team is struggling with plants that are the winners of climate change and are establishing themselves much faster than natural regeneration or plantings.
