Listen to plant songs in English and Italian Renaissance and Baroque music, played on a historical Baroque harp by the internationally renowned soloist Margret Koell. In front of painted plant motifs in the Berlin Gemäldegalerie, we will trace the communication between plant and non-human life forms and immerse ourselves in the visual worlds, sounds, smells and feelings in and through plants in early modern Europe.

The offer is part of the 4A_Lab Academy "Ecological Entanglements across Collections - Plant Lives and Beyond" from November 4 to 8, 2024 in Berlin. The Academy is an initiative of the 4A_Lab, a scientific program of the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz - Max Planck Institute in cooperation with the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz. In exchange with international researchers, museum experts and an interested audience, the Academy explores the role of plant life in artistic and aesthetic practice, in human knowledge production and in theoretical-critical thinking across different time periods, communities and geographies.
