A history in mosaics

The theme of this matinee in the Hoffmann Hall of the Märkisches Museum is opinions and controversies of the 1920s, interwoven with the biographies of strong women.

At the latest with the beginning of the Weimar Republic, it was in the air: women no longer allowed themselves to be marginalized. Established artists like Käthe Kollwitz and "newcomers" like Jeanne Mammen drew attention to themselves and established themselves. This did not always happen simply and silently, but rather in the art world as well as in society amidst all kinds of debates.

At the turn of the year, the Märkisches Museum says goodbye to a closing period of several years for a comprehensive renewal. And a personality of the Stadtmuseum Berlin is also saying goodbye: Dr. Martina Weinland, the commissioner for cultural heritage, who will once again focus on strong women in the context of a matinee on this occasion.

The speakers will be Dr. Ilka Voermann (Berlinische Galerie), Peter Schwirkmann (Deutsches Technikmuseum), Dr. Martina Weinland (Stadtmuseum Berlin). Dr. Dorothea Schöne (Kunsthaus Dahlem) will be the moderator.

Note: Please observe the applicable hygiene regulations.
