State and democracy are facing countless challenges. In their discussion, Robert Habeck (BÜNDNIS 90 / DIE GRÜNEN) and Thomas de Maizière (CDU) will be exchanging their views and visions on the question of how we might be governed in the future.
Which values should guide such governance? How can citizens’ trust in politics be strengthened? What would it need to make participation in politics more attractive? Can and must governance keep up with the acceleration of our lives? How does governance meet the demands of an increasingly specialised world, and what role should expert bodies play in this regard? Are political parties possibly losing their importance as a result of social and political movements or citizens’ councils?
Journalist Helene Bubrowski, who is very familiar with the positions of both guests on account of her work in the Berlin office of the newspaper FAZ, will moderate the debate throughout the evening.
