How did forced laborers in the German Reich experience the last months of the war before their liberation by the Allies?

In the final phase of the Second World War, the living and working conditions of the millions of forced laborers in the German Reich worsened. They were hit particularly hard by air raids and the collapse of supplies.

At the same time, the forced laborers were increasingly subjected to persecution by the police, SS and Wehrmacht. Many NSDAP members and other Nazi supporters also took part in excesses of violence against the foreigners.
