The Museum Europäischer Kulturen dedicates the 14th European Culture Days in 2017 to the Frisian inhabitants of the Netherlands and Germany. Numerous events will introduce visitors to Frisian daily life, both historic and contemporary, as well as clothing, traditional dress, language, customs, and foodways. Lectures, readings, workshops, music, and dance present the culture of this northern European region.
The artist Mila Teshaieva spent multiple years on the island of Föhr, observing and talking with the inhabitants, and taking photographs. Her photos show the island people at their work, in conversation, or at home. Using artistic developing methods, she created unique images which convey an almost mystical presence. Objects of everyday life in Frisia and interviews with the subjects complement the photographs.
