Ob am Arbeitsplatz, beim Arzt oder in der Familie – kaum ein Bereich in unserem Leben kommt ohne Geheimnis aus. Geheimnisse können schön sein, erschreckend, böse oder banal. Es gibt sie, seit Menschen zusammenleben, und ihre Geschichte ist eng mit der gesellschaftlichen Entwicklung verbunden. Im 21. Jahrhundert jedoch scheint sich die Bedeutung von Geheimnissen verändert zu haben: Soziale Netzwerke, neue Kommunikationsformen und Überwachung bedrängen die Räume und Sphären, die das Entstehen und Bewahren von Geheimnissen ermöglichen, während Transparenz zum Leitbegriff nicht nur in Politik und Wirtschaft wird.

Die Ausstellung Geheimnis. Ein gesellschaftliches Phänomen der Nemetschek Stiftung fragt nach dem Zusammenspiel von Transparenz und Schutz, von Macht und Vertrauen sowie von persönlicher Freiheit und gesellschaftlicher Verantwortung.
