Hannah Höch (1889-1978) went down in history as a Dada icon. She is best known for her photo collages, which critically examine the political and social situation. But her work also shows the autonomous artistic statement of an unusual personality. With over 120 works from all creative areas and periods, some of which have been shown for a long time or have never been shown before, this exhibition illuminates the entire spectrum of an oeuvre that is as diverse as it is contradictory. The works on loan come from important international and national museums, institutions, and private collections.

Höch took the liberty of switching between artistic styles across all ideological divides, depending on the subject matter. This not only means that in Höch's work there are also poster designs to be found alongside paintings, she even combines the areas freely and applied in individual works. In the exhibition, the works appear side by side on an equal footing, which is entirely in keeping with the intention of their creator. to enable "millions and millions of views" - as Höch calls it in a poem - was the goal of her art. She achieved an artistic freedom and diversity that is unparalleled. The show aims to address precisely this aspect of Höch's work for the first time.
