The museum THE STORY OF BERLIN is located in City-West on the famous Kurfürstendamm and shows 800 years of the city´s history in an interactive manner. Strolling through various theme-rooms, the visitor experiences the past events from the founding to the present.

Multi-media technology is the key ingredient in the presentation by the use of sound effects, original models and authentic films to bring Berlin’s past to life. Each room is designed so that visitors can feel the spirit of the times the way the people of the era once did themselves, allowing for a more profound connection between the historical content and the visitors own lives today.

One highlight is a guided tour through an original nuclear fall-out shelter, hidden below the Kurfürstendamm. The “Bunker” is a relict of the Cold War and reminds you of the Berliners´ fear of an atomic attack during the 70ies. In case of an emergency it allows to shelter up to 3,600 people for 14 days. The Bunker tour is included in the entrance fee.

All information inside the museum are presented in German and English. A guide app for smartphones can be downloaded on site.
