Visitors in front of the video panorama on the history of the site in the Humboldt Forum

Embark on a visual journey through time over eight centuries. A collage of images and films shows the buildings that once stood here, their uses and important events that took place here. It makes clear that for centuries the site was a representative centre of power, symbolically charged and often controversial.

This is where princes and politicians demolished, converted or rebuilt in order to express their political aspirations and visions. The design of the exhibition space with its raw concrete walls also alludes to the fact that this place was always a "construction site of power".

With the Video Panorama, the Humboldt Forum offers an introduction to the history of the site. The Sculpture Hall, the Palace Cellar and the exhibition Traces, distributed decentrally throughout the building, complement this access.

For those who wish to delve even further into history, the Berlin exhibition Berlin Global and the exhibition Insights. The Humboldt Brothers offer further exciting impressions.

If you would like to find out more about the history of the place, we recommend the shop in the Humboldt Forum or visit the online shop with a selection of titles and catalogues.
