Grunewald Forest School and Forest Museum Closed
Berlin's Forest Museum (Waldmuseum) is managed by the German Forest Protection Association (Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald) and is located near the Grunewald S-Bahn station. The museum uses large-scale dioramas featuring indigenous animals and objects – such as animal skulls, furs, tree discs and cones – to explain the ecosystem of the forest. Visitors are invited to guess bird sounds, smell forest scents, examine found items and observe the small and magical world of forests under a microscope.
For school groups and other children's and youth groups, the Forest Museum offers 2-4 hour projects that combine a visit to the museum with walking tours in Grunewald Forest. Equipped with binoculars, magnifying glasses, stethoscope and identification guides, city kids can get to know the forest habitat and become aware of the importance of nature conservation.
The Forest Museum organises regular night-time walks and forest days for families. It also offers holiday events.
