On 1400 square metres, the Deutschlandmuseum (Germany Museum) presents twelve defining moments from different phases of German history - from the uprising of the Germanic tribes against the Romans in the Teutoburg Forest in the year 9 to the summer fairy tale of 2006. They are set up as life-size and richly detailed backdrops in their own rooms, including a medieval castle, a baroque printer's room and the Berlin S-Bahn.

Exhibits, interactive media and games are selected and combined in such a way that German history becomes comprehensible even without prior knowledge. For the journey through 2000 years of German history, the immersive museum relies not only on life-size exhibits, but also on smells and sounds: castle floorboards creak and a trench from the First World War exudes stench.

A team of historians, designers, teachers, graphic artists, game developers and architects were involved in the conception. Like the German Spy Museum, its sister museum is located on Leipziger Platz.
