The "KPM WELT" is part of the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur (Royal Porcelain Manufactory), the oldest surviving craft business in Berlin. It is shown in the preserved factory buildings from the middle of the 19th century.
Using selected porcelain and works of art, the exhibition provides an overview of the development of KPM: beginning with the era of Frederick the Great, who founded the manufactory in 1763 and commissioned many prestigious Rococo services, through the Schinkel period with sculptures in cookie porcelain, Historicism with its rich decorations in gold and painting, to Art Nouveau, Art Deco and New Objectivity.
The elaborate porcelain production process can be traced in the restored ring kiln hall from 1871. During the tour, visitors can also take a look at KPM's model and mold warehouse. The highlight is the KPM hands-on manufactory, which was redesigned in 2017.
Here you can learn everything about the production of porcelain from the clay to the finished cup. Here, adults and children can become manufacturers themselves and learn more about the secrets of porcelain production in workshops.
The festively decorated Boccherini Hall with its richly laid table takes you back to the time of the great royal ceremonial services. The Modern Living room presents current KPM products and collaborations.
