Kunsthaus Dahlem Closed
The Kunsthaus Dahlem, which is located right next to Grunewald and in the immediate vicinity of the Brücke Museum, is an exhibition space dedicated to postwar modernism in East and West Germany. It is under the responsibility of the Atelierhaus Dahlem gGmbH, a subsidiary of the Bernhard-Heiliger-Stiftung that was founded in 2013. One essential concentration of its exhibition program is the presentation of sculpture, supplemented by painting, graphic art, and photography. The years from 1945 to 1961 are a special focus, a period whose central historical moments include the capitulation in the war and subsequent occupation, the simmering East-West conflict, the blockade of Berlin and its overcoming by the airlift of the Western allies, the founding of two German states, and the building of the Berlin Wall.
