The Künstlerhaus Bethanien is dedicated to the promotion of contemporary visual art and strives to critically reflect its developments. Künstlerhaus Bethanien is a studio and workspace for professional artists from all over the world, a project workshop and a venue for events.

Here, artists from different fields and cultural circles exchange ideas with each other and with the public. Exhibitions are opened monthly, there are regular studio visits and tours several times a year as part of "Open Studios".
For many years, Künstlerhaus Bethanien was located in the historic Bethanien Building (originally built as a hospital). In 2010, it moved into the commercial courtyard known as the "Lichtfabrik," with a gallery window and entrance facing Kottbusser Straße, in the lively neighborhood between Kreuzberg and Neukölln.

Expanded event space, more studios and an improved workshop and exhibition situation were key factors. The optimized infrastructure has promoted the support of the fellows and their networking with the Berlin art scene. Künstlerhaus Bethanien is in demand as an international platform for young artists from all over the world. The exhibition program is correspondingly diverse and contemporary in the literal sense of the word.
