The Red Cross Museum Berlin (Rotkreuz-Museum Berlin) was founded in 1990 in Neukölln and moved to a space in the offices of the National Association Berlin Red Cross (DRK) in Friedenau in 1995. The exhibition, which was designed by members of the Association of the Red Cross Museum Berlin, tells the story of the Red Cross from its beginning in 1863 to today. Under the title "Im Mittelpunkt der Mensch" ("Man in the Middle"), the museum presents historical uniforms, orders, radio and telecommunication systems, sanitary materials, surgical instruments and equipment such as a wheeled stretcher from 1880. Historical photos, posters and postcards complete the display of objects.
The exhibition focuses on the history of the German Red Cross (DRK), which was founded in 1921, and the Berlin State Association. A section covers the work of the DRK in the GDR and West Germany during the Cold War. Visitors also get an impression of the work performed by today's Red Cross – medical services, blood donation services, telecommunication services and the rescue dog team. The Youth Red Cross is also presented.
