Britz Palace – Manor Home, Park & Country Estate Closed
This breathtaking manor home in the Berlin borough of Neukölln was built in 1706 and later redesigned. In the 18th century, it came into the hands of a high-ranking Prussian court official and Minister of State. The manor experienced its golden age under Ewald Friedrich Graf von Hertzberg (1725–1795), who established a model farm here and introduced several agricultural innovations. The manor home, the small lake, the village green and the village church with its neo-classicist annex – which Hertzberg built as a family burial vault – have been preserved.
The manor home took on its current appearance in 1880, when the then-owner added a tower and refurbished the facade in a neo-renaissance style. The historical rooms on the ground floor showcase the interior design of the "Gründerzeit" era. The tour leads visitors through a men's room, a women's room, a hunting room, a concert hall and a terrace room. The park situated just behind the palace is also worth visiting and was reconstructed in the style of the turn of the century.
Britz Palace (Schloss Britz) also organises special exhibitions in cooperation with international museums as well as concerts and readings. In the summer months, there are also concerts on the Gutshof Manor Home grounds, which are also home to the Neukölln Museum.
