Michael Geithner and Martin Thiele-Schwez were born in the DDR. Since they only spent their early childhood in the workers' and farmers' state they don't remember much of the life in a divided Germany. However, they do remember the unique self-made boardgames which were gone after the reunification. The authors find it truly amazing how these game imitations are an unusual way to recount the history of the everyday life in the DDR.
Apart from the reproductions of the games "Nachgemacht" ("Imitated") includes historical documents, Stasi files, interviews with game tinkerers as well as texts by well-known experts such as Stefan Wolle, the Head of Research of the DDR Museum.
Have fun while discovering a forgotten world of games!
